Migration Services

Cybergroup’s Migration Services target businesses that are moving their hosting operations and applications from one hosting provider to another or who are transitioning their internal IT to an external hosting service. When dealing with mission critical applications and services, a business needs to be assured that the move happens quickly, smoothly, and without any outages.

Cybergroup will work with you to successfully complete your migration. We begin each migration project with an extensive questionnaire (our "Migration Assessment"), which provides a “blueprint” depicting every phase and aspect of the migration. From this questionnaire, we are able to identify migration requirements, procedures, timelines, and roles and responsibilities. Our migration questionnaire, methodology, and professional services have resulted in dozens of successful migrations for a wide variety of clients.

To give you an idea of the depth and breadth of our migration services, we offer a few examples of our recent work:

• A leading university, The New School, requested assistance migrating their existing windows-based web servers to a new hosting facility. Cybergroup assessed the existing configuration and provided recommendations along with a detailed plan of action. Cybergroup coordinated closely with The New School’s IT Dept to successfully and transparently migrate their multi-server solution with zero downtime and without loss of data.
  
  
• A U.S. school system needed to migrate their IT infrastructure from Sun Solaris to FreeBSD to facilitate their growth and future development efforts. Cybergroup migrated over eight hundred mail accounts, forty three websites, and three MySQL databases, plus additional components related to web and mail services.
  
  
• An international boat manufacturer wanted to consolidate three Unix server and a Windows server into a single, more powerful Windows server. Cybergroup coordinated the effort and successfully migrated an ASP.net website, SQL Server database, and the customer’s email accounts. During the project Cybergroup devised unique solutions to address DNS propagation issues for their database and website to ensure a transition that was completely transparent to end-users.
  
  
• A leading health insurance information website needed to migrate their website onto a new dedicated server. Cybergroup facilitated a seamless migration of their ASP.net applications and MS SQL Server, along with custom ISAPI filters and IIS configuration.
  
  
• An international travel agency needed a server upgrade due to growth and expanding customer needs. Cybergroup provisioned their three server solution (Linux Red Hat Enterprise) with the appropriate Apache configuration, including SSL, PHP, and WebTrends for log file analytics, in addition to MySQL and Sendmail. Later, Cybergroup performed load testing and performance analysis to quantify server capacity and facilitate future planning.
